Carr Center Human Rights Scholarship

Please note that the deadline to submit a fellowship application is the same as the general financial assistance application deadline: February 28, 2013.

The Carr Center for Human Rights scholarship program supports HKS students who have demonstrated a strong engagement in and commitment to human rights policy. Awardees are encouraged to engage, as much as possible, in the activities of the Carr Center throughout the term of the scholarship. Scholars receive $5500 in tuition reimbursement. Up to five Scholars are selected on merit with preference given to students with financial need.

You must submit your essay and resume below. The essay should explain why you believe you are a good candidate for the fellowship. Essays should be single spaced and no longer than one page. Make reference to the professional and/or personal experience, training, interests and future plans germane to this scholarship.

Please Note: the fellowship review process requires that we be able to electronically compile your submitted materials into a single document. It is imperative, therefore, that none of the documents you submit be protected by passwords or any other means. For example, documents submitted as PDFs should be configured to permit edits, changes and copying. If the fellowship for which you are applying requires you to submit a letter from a recommender, please remind your recommender not to protect these documents. If you do submit protected documents you risk not being considered for the fellowship for which you have applied.

Please be advised that it will typically take at least two working days after you submit your fellowship application for its status to be updated in MYFAID.

Additonal Note: Readers of fellowship applications do not have access to admission application materials (letters of recommendation, essays, etc).
